Soldiers for Life: Lyster hosts annual Fort Novosel Retiree Health Fair

Lyster Army Health Clinic opened the hangar doors at Yano Hall to welcome Retired Soldiers for Life and their families to the annual Fort Novosel Retiree Health Fair during Retiree Appreciation Day events on Friday, October 25. Over 245 retirees took advantage of the health and wellness activities, and booth displays.

Lyster hosts health and wellness fair

Lyster Army Health Clinic hosted a health and wellness fair on July 11, 2024, in celebration of Brig. Gen. Theodore Lyster’s 149th birthday, the clinic’s namesake. The day provided patients and staff an educational and interactive event that focused on preventive health and wellness information. Booths offered help with nutritional goals, mental health, preventive screenings, plus a myriad of other wellness resources.

Coffee with a Cop

The local coffee shop at Lyster Army Health Clinic was the perfect setting for Fort Novosel’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to host their Coffee with a Cop event on Friday, June 28. As part of Department of the Army CID’s Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign, the event provided an opportunity to engage with the local community in a casual environment where participants could enjoy a cup of coffee while learning about the signs, risks, and repercussions of domestic violence.

Lt. Col. Leah Steder assumed command of Lyster Army Health Clinic from Lt. Col. Garrett Holt during a change of command ceremony at the Army Aviation Museum at Fort Novosel on June 6. Community leaders, colleagues, family, and friends gathered to watch the time-honored military tradition surrounded by a picturesque backdrop of aviation history on display at the museum.

Lyster Army Health Clinic hosts 2nd annual Stomp Out the Stigma – Mental Health Awareness Walk in recognition of Mental Health Month. Clinic staff and members from the Fort Novosel community showed their commitment to break the stigma of mental health during the May 29 walk. Protecting, optimizing, and defending your mental health is vital to the well-being of everyone and to the readiness of our military force.

Lyster Army Health Clinic hosted a Denim Day Walk in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month or SAAPM -- an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities on how to prevent sexual violence. Clinic staff and members from the Fort Novosel community showed their commitment to combating sexual assault and raise awareness during the annual Denim Day Walk on April 24 at Fort Novosel.

Lyster plants pinwheel garden for Child Abuse Prevention Month

Lyster Army Health Clinic staff gathered on Friday, April 5, to "plant" a garden of blue pinwheels for Child Abuse Prevention Month at the front entrance of the clinic. The blue pinwheel, a national symbol for child abuse prevention, represents the happy, carefree childhoods all children deserve.

Brig. Gen. Raney visits Fort Novosel

Brig. Gen. Lance Raney, Commanding General, U.S. Army Medical Readiness Command, East and Director, Defense Health Network East, visited Fort Novosel March 1-2. The two-day visit kicked off with briefings by army medicine components followed by tours of facilities. Lt. Col. Garrett Holt, Lyster Army Health Clinic commander updated Raney on several topics that included how the clinic keeps aviators medically ready, clinical operations, and unit readiness.
