Lyster welcomes new senior enlisted advisor

Fort Novosel, AL — Soldiers, family, and friends of Lyster Army Health Clinic gathered at the Army Aviation Museum to welcome Sgt. Maj. Meredith Greene at an assumption of responsibility ceremony, August 18, 2023, at Fort Novosel. Lt. Col. Garrett Holt, commander, Lyster Army Health Clinic, was the presiding officer and host for the ceremony.

LAHC Medical Company welcomes new commander

Fort Novosel, AL — Soldiers, family, and friends of the Lyster Army Health Clinic Medical Company gathered at the helipad outside the clinic to bid farewell to Capt. Ronal Monroy, the outgoing commander of the Medical Company and welcomed Capt. Marissa Caid-Loos, the incoming commander, in a change of command ceremony, June 27, 2023. Lt. Col. Garrett Holt, commander, Lyster Army Health Clinic, was the presiding officer and host for the ceremony.

Lyster hosts Mental Health Awareness Walk

Fort Novosel, AL — Lyster Army Health Clinic hosted a Stomp Out the Stigma – Mental Health Awareness Walk in recognition of Mental Health Month. Clinic staff and members from the Fort Novosel community showed their commitment to break the stigma of mental health during the May 31 walk. Protecting, optimizing, and defending your mental health is vital to the well-being of everyone and to the readiness of our military force.

Lyster promotes employee wellness with Self Care Workshop

Fort Novosel, AL — To promote employee wellness, Lyster Army Health Clinic’s Behavioral Health Department hosted a self care workshop. Employees had the opportunity to attend the event to learn about self-care tips, mindfulness practices, and strategies for developing a self care plan in their own lives. The self-care workshop was held on March 20, 2023, and featured Brent Eubanks, MSW, LICSW, with the presentation titled, “Understanding Compassion Fatigue and the Importance of Self Care.” The workshop focused on examining what is compassion fatigue or burn out and how to identify it, steps to reduce it, and how to develop a self care plan. Working in a healthcare setting, especially the last few years with the pandemic, many organizations have seen an increase in stress and fatigue among staff. Eubanks remarked, “The Behavioral Health team felt that it would be beneficial to clinic staff to provide an in-service. I chose the topic of compassion fatigue and self-care, as it would be something that most everyone could relate to.” The workshop was held in conjunction with recognizing March as Social Work Month. The workshop opened with asking participants to share why they got into medicine, and the general consensus was “wanting to help people”.

Lyster hosts Denim Day Walk

Fort Novosel Army Base, AL — Lyster Army Health Clinic hosted a Denim Day Walk in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month or SAAPM -- an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities on how to prevent sexual violence. Clinic staff and members from the Fort Novosel community showed their commitment to combating sexual assault during the Denim Day Walk on April 26.
