Nutrition Services
Welcome to Lyster's Nutrition Care Clinic!
The Nutrition Care Clinic is here to assess individual and group nutritional needs as well as to provide individualized comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy that includes evaluation, counseling and education for specific nutrition-related diseases and concerns. Services are available for active duty service members, retirees, and their family members. A valid military ID card is required for all visits.
Patients are seen by a Registered Dietitian for a variety of reasons including cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, renal disease, nutrition deficiencies, pregnancy and postpartum care, eating disorders, food allergies, infant and child nutrition, weight management, metabolism concerns, advanced body composition measuring/evaluation and more.
Group classes are available with the Registered Dietitian for Diabetes/Prediabetes/Impaired Glucose Tolerance/Impaired Fasting Glucose/PCOS in the “Diabetes Education and Prevention” class and for Weight Management in the “Fit For Performance” standardized weight control program.
Appointments may be scheduled by calling 334-255-7986 after a referral from your Primary Care Manager (PCM) has been place for medical concerns or if your unit refers you. Patients may call to schedule self-referred weight management classes.
Walk-Ins are taken for Weight and Advanced Body Composition Analysis using the InBody 770, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 7:30 - 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Check-In for Nutrition Care is located at the Physical Therapy/Nutrition Care desk across from Physical Therapy Clinic. Patients with a scheduled appointment will check-in here and then proceed to the Nutrition Care Clinic. Patients should check in at least 15 minutes prior to all individual appointments to allow time to fill out a questionnaire prior to their scheduled appointment time.
Late Policy As the Nutrition Care Clinic is an appointment-based clinic, it is imperative that our patients and staff establish a cooperative partnership to adhere to appointment times. The Nutrition Care Clinic will make every effort to see our patients in a timely manner. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. We strongly encourage clients to arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time to allow for completion of check-in and filling out questionnaire. Patients who arrive 5 minutes or more late will be asked to reschedule.
No Show/Cancellation Policy In order to provide the highest accessibility to our patients, we request patients call to cancel appointments 24 hours in advance rather than "no show." This will aid in timely patient flow, decrease wait times, and allow other patients to utilize appointment times. A broken appointment is a loss to everyone. Your unused/canceled appointment may be used for another patient; units will be notified of beneficiaries who demonstrate a pattern of failing to cancel appointments in a timely manner. Please be aware, rescheduling your appointment may push your appointment back. To cancel an appointment, call 334-255-7000.
