Patient and Family Partnership Council (PFPC)

What is the PFPC?

The PFPC is a council comprised of patient advisors who work in collaboration with our facility to enhance the quality of care and patient experience at Lyster Army Health Clinic. Advisors are asked to give feedback on their experiences as a patient/family member and help plan changes to improve how we care for patients; patient/family advisors provide a voice that represents all patients and families of patients who receive care at Lyster Army Health Clinic.

What do advisors do?

Patient and family advisors:
  • Help develop or review informational materials for patients and family members.
  • Help improve patient safety and the prevention of medical errors
  • Help improve the patient and family role in care decision making.
  • Help educate or train staff and clinicians
  • Provide feedback on/help to improve clinic policies, staff and clinician practices, programs, or facilities.
  • Sharing stories about their care experience in training sessions for nurses, doctors, and other clinic staff.
The advisory council meets once quarterly for approximately 1 hour (virtually and/or in person).

What skills do advisors need?

  • Listen and share their opinions respectfully
  • Think about ways to improve health care
  • Work well with others
You do not need any special qualifications to be an advisor. We will provide any training that you need.
