Lyster hosts Denim Day Walk

Lyster Army Health Clinic hosted a Denim Day Walk in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month or SAAPM -- an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities on how to prevent sexual violence. Clinic staff and members from the Fort Novosel community showed their commitment to combating sexual assault during the Denim Day Walk on April 26.

Providers collaborate to improve patient care

Lyster Army Health Clinic and Humana Military hosted their seventh annual TRICARE Collaboration Event April 18 at The Landing welcoming community healthcare providers to Fort Novosel. The event gathers TRICARE network providers to enhance relationships, optimize Military Treatment Facility care and satisfaction while affording an opportunity for the military physicians and civilian providers to meet and talk medicine.

Lyster offers walk-in Contraceptive Care Clinic

The Military Health System provides education, counseling, and access to birth control. Contraceptives can provide for a variety of health aspects from irregular menstrual cycles to military readiness for female service members. Lyster Army Health Clinic offers many options for female service members and enrolled beneficiaries who are seeking contraception. Selecting the right contraceptive method can be confusing with so many choices available.

Medical Readiness Command, East command team visits Fort Rucker

U.S. Army’s Medical Readiness Command, East senior leaders visited Fort Rucker this week. Brig. Gen. Mary Krueger, MRC, East Commanding General and Command Sgt. Maj. Rebecca Booker, MRC, East Senior Enlisted Advisor, met with leaders from United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Brown Dental Clinic, Veterinary Treatment Facility, United States Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL), and Lyster Army Health Clinic.

Lyster offers Diabetes Education and Prevention Classes

November is National Diabetes Month. Ms. Theresa Osteen, Registered Dietitian at Lyster Army Health Clinic took the opportunity this month to highlight programs and services available to help people with diabetes self-manage their condition. Through the Nutrition Clinic, beneficiaries can receive information, support, and skills training to help prevent complications from uncontrolled diabetes.

Lyster gears up for influenza season

It’s time to get your flu vaccination. Lyster Army Health Clinic kicked off the 2022 Flu Campaign in October to protect individuals from influenza, its complications, and to prevent the potential spreading of the disease. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, reducing the spread of respiratory illnesses like flu, this fall and winter, is more important than ever. It takes the body about two weeks to build antibodies against the influenza virus after vaccination, which is why getting the flu shot early is ideal.
